It has been a little over 2 months since that night.  It was a Sunday, we watched the Superbowl that day, hoping for the Seahawks to win, but it really didn’t matter.  We sat and watched, waiting, crying, praying, knowing there were angels in our midst, preparing her way.Generation Hands Nurses and aides came in and our of her room, asking if there was anything they could do, anything they could get for us. There were some who shared our burden, as they had gotten to know her. They had come to understand the hole that would be left in our lives when she passed on. It had been hours since we had heard her sweet voice.  Hours since she stared into our eyes, loving us as we are and without holding anything back.  She loved us, we knew that. And she knew of our love for her…that is the way we live.  Always…

Thrift Store Love

20140212-161350.jpg
I’m so happy with my new pot! Doesn’t that sound funny? Well, I am. I was blessed the other day to enjoy a whole day out doing what I love ~ thrift store hopping/shopping. I usually have to be speedy, not this day, it was wonderful. I found a fantastic brand new pair of hockey gloves for the Little Big Boy for only 4 bucks! Yes, you can gasp!

Good company is also essential for a long day Thrifting, another plus this day, the company was fab and as hooked on bargains as I am! Who would love these educational deals?

I have been fortunate that if I wait patiently I will always find what I’m wanting and these were screaming my name last summer but could not part with the dollar they were asking but today ~ Tada ~ Two sets for less than a fiver? Yes please!

In addition I brought home 2 complete outfits, a candle holder and a few other things that really made my day ~ until next time, Happy Thrifting!

An Artist in the Making

Since first starting my journey into Motherhood, I’ve always allowed my children to have access to the arts. Guitars, fiddles, paintbrushes, broken bits or chalk etc could always be found laying about our home. The result has been a good one, without threat or force each child has explored and found their talents. Sadly, Sammy has been somewhat deprived of these luxuries, mainly I believe because there is SO much stuff I’ve had to begin putting things away or put to storage. The business of life these days is also a hindrance. That being said, we decided today to beak out the tattered easel and let his inner artist have free rein.

Blogging a Dream?

Isn’t funny how we find ourselves drawn to Pinterest boards and various blogs that cover (in great detail mind you) all the things we dream of achieving or owning or being?  Do you ever wonder how close to reality most are?  How many loads of dog pooped doormats and throw up do their wonderfully pristine laundry rooms really launder?  Or exactly how many boxes of the “cheap” cereal they tried to get past their kids and how much  WAS skimmed off the “Rainy Day Fund” to GET that Pottery Barn bed set and matching picture for the baby’s room?  I do!  I had a blog once, a long time ago, that was visited by hundreds everyday, yes, I was wildly popular ~  I distinctly remember browsing through the blog with the intent of tweaking a few things here and there in the side bar, only to discover I was a fabulously interesting person!  Really!  What a beautiful setting I lived in!  What a diligent homemaker and mother I was!  And my CHILDREN!!  One word:  WOW.  It was then I began to look at blogs differently 🙂  I started to see sidebar “post it notes”  that said things like “Blog without Fear” and “FreeBlogger”, these are ones who usually “tell it all” and post loads of things I can relate to, don’t get me wrong;  I love beautiful blog pics as much as the next ~ but I wonder how much we aren’t seeing?

This is our piano:  right here, right now.  I love this pic ~ Don’t you?  Make ya want one no?  However in this instance, you’d have to also take this:

:)Truth be known, sweeping the floor is an assigned chore (twice daily) given to my children. 🙂

Only ONE of my closet friends knows what this “sweet spot” was the scene of  just moments before and let me tell you it wasn’t pretty ~ hint:  A four-year old, his strong will and that of his Mama’s.

I especially love these shots:

You know the ones!  Close up and sweet of all the children’s playthings strewn about, when really it’s just a big fat mess that you haven’t had the energy to sweep into a corner or battle the will of that four-year old again so soon!  Ha!  I just have to laugh, and after all this is vented errr I mean “said”  I will still scour  Blogland sighing and oogling over those Mom’s and ladies who have it all and have it all together, wondering why MY laundry room isn’t a regular on people’s Pinterest.

For now, I leave you with a bit of the Homestead, right here, right now:  The interpritation is up to you {{wink}}

Feed a Fever, Starve a Cold

I’m not sure how hat old saying really goes or if it is even at all useful. I do know however, folks views of how to handle common ailments vary. For example, I’m a huge fan of rest. My close friends are laughing… It’s true. I believe the body can recover from a multitude of physical problems by just being at rest and pushing the water. My husband on the other hand believes the opposite: when the body is failing ya – push it right on through. men. That all being said, KT and I are snuggled in our comforters, I on my (new) iPhone and she on her lappy. Lazing through our sore throats and body aches while husband takes the Little Big Boy up to Donner Lake for some fresh air and ” pushing through”. My energy level was at an all time low so my motherly protests were nill.

I suppose they survived and it seems the fresh air did them some good. As for these over 40 bones?  Heating pad, KT’s homemade vegan cinnamon roll and my recliner are working out just fine 🙂
I’m going to push publish for this post, with a slight tinge of fear as this is the first time I will be remotely doing so from a mobile device.   Make peace not War.

Just for Fun

It’s officially the “New School Year” and now with the Fellowship Meeting behind us I can move forward with the “next thing”.   It seems sureal homeschooling the last couple of years, not much to do.  Being in the charter school I have become very hands off so to speak.  We have our “teacher” coming into our home and keeping the girls on course, assigning lessons and gathering items.  I have become a professional “sign on the dotted liner” and spectator.  I’m not complaining, it’s been years since I have had such a break.  Thinking back to out beginning it’s hard to believe we set out our little homeschool in 1992.  Schooling at home was unheard of where we were in the world and we met with our fair amount of opposition.  Funny how things change.  Most older folks I meet are very receptive of the idea and many have expressed to me that they themselves with  this option was offered in their “day”.

I thought I would list some of our all time faves that have sustained us through the years.  Keep in mind I’m thinking back over a lot of years…  Click on any of the pics to get a reference to item.

Great resource for    both boys AND girls!!
